First of all, sorry for not publishing a diary entry for January 13, our first full-day in Denver. I absolutely forgot on thaqt, so this entry describes what we did on Jan 13 & 14.
We began Friday 13th by visiting the Avalanche practice in the Family Sports Center. Players could see from the ice our flags - the most national and Eurolanche flags in the Invasion history. Some of them even greeted us, but for example Varly asked "Where is the Russian flag?" with a smile. After the practice, we were waiting on the players in front of the facility. Some of them appeared and spent long minutes by giving us dozens of autographs and taking individual and group pictures. All players we met received our annual flyers. The list includes guys like Soderberg, Zadorov, Grigorenko or Mitchell. With all respect to the players, a highlight of the day was a meeting with Joe Sakic who unexpectedly appeared there. He got out of his car and gave his autograph to everyone. It was our longest meeting with Sakic in the Eurolanche history. Joe also received our flyers and the proposal for the cooperation as well.
So Friday 13th wasn't so bad. It continued by shopping souvenirs. Firstly, we were at the Bill's Sports Collectibles store where we appeared every single year. All guys, who are here for the first time ever, were amazed by this shop. He had never seen something like that before Authentic memorabilia, thousands of sports cards, rare souvenirs, framed jerseys... Really worth to visit. Shopping continuted at the official team's store in Pepsi Center - Altitude Authentic. The general manager of the store offered us 30% discount on everything on the occasion of our 10th anniversary season. It is the biggest discount which we have ever get there and we are really, really, really thankful for this.
After some more shopping we got back to our hotel and enjoyed the evening in the heated pool - it is absolutely fantastic. This hotel is the best we have ever stayed in the Invasion history and we would love to come back there every year if the prices will remain same.
January 14, Saturday, brought our second Avalanche game. Before its start, we visited very traditional place of the interest - Red Rocks Amphitheater. Guys absolutely loved it, a view was fantastic and we all took many pics. Some guys from the group did a little competition when they ran from the downstairs over all stairs up. You will see this video soon on the Eurolanche Facebook. After this, we had a tour at the Stranahan's whiskey distillery.
The game itself was unlucky again. We liked the Avalanche effort, but it seems nothing works for the team this season. Seeing McLeod in the different jersey and his fight with Iggy was weird. Anyway, we cheered, we did some live vidoes for our Facebook pages and for our partners' pages and then had a great late lunch with our new friend Jim from Colorado Springs. Evening was again about relaxing in the heated pool.
