As Sunday is not just in Europe but also in most of the US cities usually a bit more quiet, we went on a long trip to the Rocky Mountains to enjoy the most beautiful spots in the nature west and south of Denver.
After leaving Denver at 7 am in the morning, we first went first the highway direction West to visit Georgetown, one famous ancient goldmining town in the Rockies, and Vail, one of the most famous skiing resorts not just in Colorado but worldwide. Especially in Vail, we tried to be very efficient with our time because everything in Vail is quite expensive as it is a touristical hotspot. You want to go for a one day skiing trip there? No problem, it costs you just around 100 Dollars for parking and more than 200 Dollars for using the Lifts.
After going a bit more West, we turned then South right in the middle of the Rockies to enjoy the beautiful scenery of all the mountains around us. Arriving close to southern border of Colorado, we spent finally also some time at an Alligator farm and the Great Sand Dunes of Colorado. For all of the members, it was a first in a lifetime experience to hold and pet a baby alligator. The Sand Dunes very also very impressive but as it was starting to getting dark, it also started to get very cold. And besides that, we also had to take our 3:30 hours drive back to Denver, which we started at around 17:30 and the Sand Dunes.
