On Saturday morning, we slept for "longer" time for the first time when we left the motel at 10:30 am. After fueling up and stopping for lunch at where else but Wendy's (of course it was the baconator and a soda machine with 100+ variants), we continued through the Rockies and observed amazing views.
Our main destination was the town of Fairplay, which Eurolanche members have visited several times, mainly for the South Park series souvenir shops (that's the name of the area where the town is located). After buying more and more souvenirs, we entered the South Park City Museum. The museum has nothing to do with the series. It is about a 100-meter street with 44 historic houses, a train set and a double-digit number of exhibitions. All this completes the picture of life in the USA at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. For me, it's probably the best museum in Colorado. Preserved buildings, historical and authentic atmosphere, lots of exhibitions and information... One could spend a whole day there. I am glad that Eurolanche has succeeded to make it happen after many years. We had never been there before, as the museum is only open from May to October. That's also why I'm glad that our trip was a success in this part of the year. All in all, the town of Fairplay is interesting in itself, a typical Midwestern village, to which Eurolanche will definitely return.
While driving, we also experienced a shock when an automatic alert on our mobile phone beeped about the movement of an armed man on the run in the area where we were. For that reason, we couldn't get through the intended route, since it was there that the police were looking for a man suspected of murder and where they caught him, but during the chase, the power line was damaged, which blocked the road...
We had dinner at a pizzeria, where they serve typical Colorado pizza, which every Tour participant should try. This was followed by a transfer to the hotel and my individual evening walk through Denver.
