Saturday was about San Francisco. We had to get up early again in order to visit all famous places. Our first steps were heading towards pier 33. We took a boat to the Alcratraz Island - the place where is the most famous prison in the world (and which terminated its operations in 60's in the last century). For almost 36 dollars, we went to the island on boat. There was audio tour of the cell building where we could hear most famous stories about the infamous escape and much more. It was great to just walk on the island and see amazing scenery around. Many of our guys consider this trip one of the best of our West Coast trip.
After we came back to the port, we walked a little bit to the famous Pier 39, where are many shops and attractions located. We bought more souvenirs and watched sea lions along with many other tourists. Then we could not miss famous - again - cable cars and took a ride in the up and down streets of San Francisco. Finally, we took photos under the Golden Gate Bridge.
This all took us 8 hours so there was not enough time to explor San Jose when we arrived there in the evening. We came directly to the arena. Unforutanely, only remaining seats for our group was for standing under the roof - for crazy 50 dollars. We had no choice. Before the game, we did fist bumps with Avs players near the entrance tunnel. Later in the game, we were the loudest fans in the building again and some other fans from the lower level even tweeted us they could hear our cheering downstairs. Sadly, when we wanted take a rest in the intermissions and we sat down on the floowr near to the wall, the Sharks staff wanted to kick us out because we could only standing with our standing tickets. Really, it happened.
After the game, we drove for 2 hours south of San Jose to the town of Coalinga. The manager promised us one extra hour for check out. But he changed his mind and told us to leave in 15 minutes in the morning. Another "great" experience in rainy, windy and cold California. We can't wait to be back in Denver.
The game itself was unfortunate again, but we got at least one point. We believed in some wins for the rest of our trip - two next Avs home games. We will fly to Denver on Sunday that will be mainly a transportation day so the next full update of the Invasion IX coverage will be available on late Monday/early Tuesday.
