Hello from the East-Coast! After arriving in Washington DC yesterday in the evening, today was marked by some sightseeing and the game between the Washington Capitals and the Florida Panthers. It was amazing to see the 'Verizon Center because it is in the middle of many blocks in the entertainment part of the city like a normal building with nearly no parking lots around. When you stand outside, you woun't belive that there is a big arena in there. Because of the success of the Caps this season the Center was sold out and there was a huge atmosphere in there. Nearly 80% of all the people wore the red home-jerseys, so the crowd was awesome. Although the Caps struggled until the third period (also Ovechkin didnt play that well), the Caps heated things up in the third. So finally the Caps won 3-1 with an empty-netter at the end, which made the crowd go wild. After the game, all the streets around the Verizion center are blocked by the police because of the people exiting the center. So there were huge traffic-problems around this center because of its funny location. As the center is just in the entertainment center of Washington, many fans stayed around in the bars just by the center, so all the bars were all full of fans too. Many of them talked with me because of the Avalanche-jersey and I told them about Eurolanche too and gave away some info-cards. so hopefully it works with new fans from Washington! tomorrow I will leavy for New York, so stay tuned for some New York Area NHL-games!
