We made a 10-hour trip around Denver on Sunday, mainly in the Rocky Mountains area. The first stop was a traditional - at the Red Rocks Amphitheater that is close to our hotel. Out of 14 participants, 12 were there for the first time ever and they have amazed by the surrounding views. Our program was little bit delayed due to the ongoing reconstruction of the top area, so we had to walk from the bottom to the last row via entire stairs. This place is worth to visit every year, mainly when there is sunny weather.
Then we drove to Estes Park for the tour of the most famous hotel in Colorado - The Stanley Hotel. Some of the crew made a hotel tour, get know interesting facts about the area including its connection to the writer Stephen King. As there are missing basic European castle tours in the USA for logical reasons, such experiences was very welcomed part of our schedule. It was the first time Eurolanche went there.
We had a lunch at the locally famous restaurant Millsite Inn in the mountains. The weather went little bit colder and snowy after that so those who are here for the first time had a chance to get know classic Colorado changeable weather. Unfortunately, snowing and winter closures broke our first plans to visit some of the mountain lakes. Despite that we made one attempt to walk there, but the distance was too far away.
In late afternoon our drive continued on one of the most famous sightseeing roads in the Rocky Mountains area. We visited cities Black Hawk, Central City and Idaho Springs and returned at the hotel afterwards. A dinner included two alternatives - steak for those who were really hungry and In-N-Out Burger for the rest. We met Stephanie there, our long-time supporter who baked Eurolanche-Avalanche cookies.
