Finally we came back to Denver on Wednesday after four days. We took a look on what happened on Sunday and Monday in the recent diary entries. Let's check what did follow after our departure from Las Vegas on Tuesday and Wednesday.
It was only one hour ride from vegas to Hoover Dam. Huge construction was finished in 30's of last century. It is incredible how they could build it in that time. We walked on a bridge that is situated over Hoover Dam. We started in Nevada and finished in Arizona. Two states, two different time zones. We stopped at different areas and spots near the Dame and took many beautiful photos. There had not left time to visit a museum or for a tour. We had to continue to a highlight of this strip - - Grand Canyon. On a way there, we could see unbelievable sceneries and towns. Who live in a middle of nothing? In a desert? We had a break on one of such place where we bought a hot dog in a pub with a big board saying they sell world famous hot dogs. I don't have to describe you hot it tasted and what was their service. Many other things, places reminded us US movies or video games. It is exactly the same!
After we came to Grand Canyon after nearly two hour ride, our group was divided in two groups. One of them bought more expensive tickets for a skywalk over the Canyon and the second made just a regular tour. It is hard to explain what scenery and nature we saw. Just check our photo gallery on Facebook for probably the nicest photos of the whole Invasion VIII. We were there for two hours when the biggest problem was to find a gas station. It is not there like in Europe that you can tank a gas anywhere. This was a desert and we were praying for finding any gas soon. Imagine we would be stocked somewhere without traffic. When we finally found one, we were ready for another drive, now to Flagstaff, Arizona where we slept for one night at one of the many classic US motels.
Next morning, on Wednesday,, we had to leave a motel at 6 am local time for a visit to Four Corners National Monument - a pace where four borders of four different states meet - Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico. We were glad it was not a summer season when a waiting time on the photos is about two hours. After we bought souvenirs from native Americans, we finally entered state of Colorado after four days. Sadly, there left a time for just one activity and we had to cancel two scheduled visits. We drove to Mesa Verde National Park and then about 7 hours to Denver with just one stop for Mexican food.
