It was the busiest day for me. Early in the morning I took a train to Pepsi Center and visited the gameday morning practice of the Avs. It is closed for the public and opened only for the journalist. Thanks to my Slovak employer, the national newspaper in Slovakia, I had received the credentials not only for the gameday practice, but also for the game with Chicago Blackhawks.
Only few Avs players participated in the practice. Thanks to almost empty Pepsi Center, I could take good pictures of them from different angles of the first row. Be sure to check our photo gallery on Facebook, I am going to update it soon. Then, I watched a little of Chicago´s practice and continued in the shopping in the team store.
In the afternoon, we had a tour at the local baseball stadium of MLB´s Colorado Rockies – the Coors Field. I do not like baseball, because I think it is a boring game, but I can say the stadium is very nice. Just like from US movies about baseball. It was again pretty sunny day, so the pictures should not disappointed you.
Thanks to my credentials I entered the stadium not hour, but two hours prior the game. I took my sit in the front row of media section and chat with the Eurolanche members in the chat at our website. During the whole game, I could see a big professionalism by the Avs and the NHL. I cannot compare with the KHL, which is at very lower level in this area. Also I met with several interesting people from the Avalanche organization and even Mr. Jean Martineau, Senior Vice President, Communications & Business Operations, knows about our activity in Europe, what I appreciate a lot.
It was funny to meet Michel Goulet, now working for the Calgary Flames. Last time I met in 2005 in Bratislava, Slovakia during the exhibition game of veterans. I had a cap with the Avs logo, what he liked. He gave me his autographs, puck and the hockey stick. And now, I met him in Pepsi Center!
I am going to write more about my credentials experience in the separate story soon. - David
